Still Motoring

I am sorry that I have been silent for a day or two. I am still motoring along on things and I haven't had time to blog. I planted my flowers and a tomato in my new pot yesterday. I have also continued to work on the blanket! Isn't it awesome? I went for a really nice 6 mile hike yesterday in the evening. It has been really hot here in the greater Portland area and getting into the woods is one of the best ways to keep cool.

I also sinned and bought yarn today while I was at the shop. I promised I wouldn't but I just couldn't help myself! I dare you guys to spend 4 hours in a yarn shop and not go home with anything!!! I am making a little patio decoration and hopefully you all will get a good view of it tomorrow! Any guesses on what it could be?

Lace

The lace that I am working on is the Juno Regina, By: Miriam L. Felton. I knit half of it about six months ago and am finally working on the second half. I really like this pattern. Just a taste of lace and then some really easy knitting, just my style. Sorry The pictures are really bad, when I get it finished I will take better ones.

By the way, if anyone is interested I did post the Tooth Fairy Pillow pattern!

Vissions from my Morning Run

Can you see the humming bird on her nest!
We have been checking in with her several times a week. I am pretty sure the babies have not hatched yet!

And some eye candy from the trail!

I am knitting on some lace that has been in time out for a while. I will try to get some pictures up soon.

Tooth Fairy Dreams

My youngest son is getting ready to lose his first tooth. He has been asking, I mean begging for weeks, for me to make him a tooth pillow. So yesterday I finally got it done. This is what I came up with! I will write the pattern up soon and make it available. I think that every 5 to 6 year old should have one of these! You could really make it say whatever you want, I almost wrote Magic Tooth on it. He wanted it to say "Thanks for the Money". I like it just the way it is!

On another note. Here is a picture of the yarn I dyed yesterday. This is what Tea looks like!

Happenings

Oh my gosh, it has been a busy week! I should just warn you all that during the summer months I get busy. We turn the TV and computer off for the most part and we spend a lot of time outside. Yesterday I hiked 3.5miles with my sis, who by the way likes her socks. I dyed another skein of yarn and went to work for 4 hours, rushed home and ate something. I scooped up the kids and drove an hour and a half to the drive in with friends! We saw Terminator and Star Trek. I am sorry to say that I fell asleep during the first 10 minutes of Star Trek and missed the entire movie. We didn't get home until 3:30am! Yikes. We all really love the drive in though and try to go a couple of times each summer. The movie was to scary for my little one so he fell asleep in my lap promptly. My middle son was also scared and didn't watch most of the movie. I have no idea why they showed the scarier of the two films first. Most of the time they show a children's movie first and then and adult movie later. We always make a big bed in the back of our van and the kids sleep through the second movie. Obviously so do I!

This is Spring and Elliott waiting for the movie to start. They were just so cute we had to get a picture.

Today I am dyeing another skein of yarn, I am trying to get a dark brown with tea. I can't wait to see what happens. Cooking yarn is really fun, who new! I am also hoping to get my boys out of bed by noon and out doors. I see yard work in the near future. I think we may go to a memorial service this afternoon also. I better get them up and moving soon.

Oh, and look at my blanket isn't it pretty? I love this project. I think that I may need to start a Malabrigo knitters support group. For the truly addicted!!!

Updates

I just went for a nice 7 mile walk with my lovely friends Joann and Tara. To be fair we did run about 2 miles but certainly not 7! After my walk I went to my friend Joann's garden plot and to the farmers market for the first time this year! I love the farmers market. We only have a market May through October! This is what I got! Yummmmmmm

Oh and I really wanted to give you an update on the Stop Light Sock!

It is going to take a while. Good Luck.

Busy Day

Yesterday was BUSY! Sorry I didn't post. I had to teach a class that involved Fair Isle. My students were great and they all got it!!! You go girls. Then I had to rush home and take my boys to park day. Park days happen every Wednesday all summer. About 30 homeschool families get together at a nice park and the kids play for hours. In May park days are just getting started and the turnout is pretty low. We got there pretty late and there were about 5 families there. The boys had a good time with their friends. They played in the woods with a big pile of sticks for most of the time. Boys will be boys. I really like park day because I get to sit in the shade and knit with other moms. I love to sit in a lawn chair and knit, now if I only had a handsome waiter and some margaritas!
We only got to stay about an hour before we had to rush out of there to pick up the daddy! Sandrey had a baseball game and the daddy is the coach. They dropped me off at knit night on the way to the game and I worked for the next 4 hours. Knit night is great. I love being surrounded by yarn and friendly knitters!!! Can you see my day had a theme, knitting and more knitting. Someone has to knit all my yarn!

Today is shaping up beautifully and I am not sure what adventures will find me. I will keep you posted.

PS. Did I mention it was parents day at fencing on Tuesday and I took the class with the boys. Lets just say walking is difficult at the moment! I keep hearing snickers as I hobble through the house! If you want a kick ass workout try fencing. It was a lot of fun!

Finished

I finished the Mothers Day Socks! I thought you needed a picture. I hope my sister likes HOT pink. She said pink and she got pink.

Doesn't it feel good to finish things?

So I have been wrestling with the thought of NOT buying yarn until I finish ALL my UFOs. I know I get enticed with new things every time I am in the shop, most of the time I don't buy anything! The problem is though I feel like I have to many things on the needles. It is really weighing on me. So I think that my summer project should be to finish my UFOs. Now if I get to a project and I really don't love it anymore I think I may frog it. Does that sound fair! Do you think I can do it? Want to join me? We could start a list of people who want to finish there UFOs! Maybe I could give a skein or two to the people who finish the most UFOs! What do you think? Any suggestions?

One more thing I have sock yarn on order. It is for natural dyeing. I am going to buy that!

Beautiful Bike Ride

Lots of fresh air, sunshine and exercise! It was a beautiful day today in the Pacific Northwest and we decided to take advantage of it. My family and my sisters family went for a nice bike ride on the Banks Vernonia Trail. It was so nice to be out in the fresh air with my whole family!

I finished the Mothers Day Socks, I just have to kitchner the toe on the second one. I need to get the toe done so that I can give them to her. Maybe I will get the toe finished during Survivor tonight. I will have pictures tomorrow. I didn't get much knitting done today, o-well. Today was for SUNSHINE!!! I hope you all had a wonderful day.

So soft and squashy. I am so in love with the colors, so vibrant and fabulous! I love it. You all should give this a try, so much fun!

Airing The Knitting!!!

Ok, so a couple of times a year, on nice days, I take most if not all my knitting and yarn out into the yard for a little air and sunshine. I have read that sun kills moths and moth larva and that is the purpose of this airing. I want to make sure that no moths end up in my stash or finished objects. So today we are airing. Not everything is out! I will bring the rest out tomorrow!

Oh and by the way I was able to count my projects on needles and the lucky number is 16! Scarry!!!! I think I better finish some things!

Knit and Crochet Show 2009

Sorry I didn't blog this morning! I was up bright and early and headed to the Knit and Crochet Show. I took Custom Fitting Existing Patterns By: Lily Chin. It was a good class taught by a very knowledgeable instructor. I have to say that the class seemed more like a designing class then a modifying class! She was great! I already new most of the information but it was nice to go over it. The thing that I really learned and will use is a modification on the modified drop sleeve!!! I can't wait to give this a try. I really can't wait to get working on my green sweater again so that I can put what I learned to good use. Over all it was a nice day!

Recent Acquisitions

During the last month I have picked up a few items that I would like to share with you. I bought some merino roving to spin from Stitchjones! I love the colors and will hopefully start spinning it soon! I am not sure if the yarn it produces will be for me or a gift for someone else. I never know until it is finished. Although these are my colors.
The color way is Anjelica!

I also purchased a very old copy of Natural Dyes from Northwest Plants. This is a really neat book. I love plants and yarn so natural dyeing might be for me. I ordered some sock yarn to dye, I can't wait to get started on it!

My last purchase was a copy of Arctic Lace. This book has some nice history in it and some really pretty lace patterns! I have no plans to use it soon but I am sure I will in the future.

Have you purchased anything great lately?

Seduced!

I was seriously seduced by my Malabrigo stash yesterday!!! I love Malabrigo so much that I buy skeins at random! If I really like a color I buy it because the dye lots often change dramatically and I know I may never see that exact shade again. For this reason I have about 15 random skeins of Malabrigo! I have no idea what got me looking at my Malabrigo, maybe I just wanted to cuddle it! Just looking at that box filled with beautiful skeins put me over the edge though and I just had to start playing. I was lost to this project all day yesterday. Call it love, pure joy, play or a steamy affair, all I know is that it was really fun and will continue. What do you think?

I love to play with color and Malabrigo is the perfect medium for that!!! Don't you think?
