Elliott has been bugging me for a long time to make him a knight costume. I looked up some patterns on Ravelry but decide not to use one because this was such a simple thing to knit. I got started and finished quickly! I am so glad I got the hauberks finished. He loves it! Now I just need to knit him a helmet!

Happy Mother's Day!!!
Happy Mother's Day to you all!

I make gifts for a few mothers in my life. I am still working on the pink socks for my sis! She is out of town so I have a little time to finish. I am on the gusset of the second sock. I really like them so far! I also made my friend Shelby something but I won't mention what it is because I have not seen her yet today. I finished spinning the Black Trillium Fiber yesterday for my friend Tara! This is her Mother's Day gift.
I just finished a 4 mile walk with her and she thanked me for her gift. I think she really liked it. I see mittens in her future! I will call my mom and send her some socks very soon. My only excuse for having not sent something yet is, I have a hard time getting things to the post office. Oh and I already gave my mother in-law her purple socks while she was here visiting!

My second swap!!!
I received my items from my second swap yesterday! I really love everything! Liz made me a really nice wash cloth and a very pretty necklace. I wore the necklace yesterday! My children ate the chocolate bar as soon as I opened the package! Go figure, I got a bite or two! I think that I might have to use the muscle and joint rub today! I just ran 7 miles and walked another 1.5! It was great. the forest is so pretty early in the morning! I love this time of year. I also received a nice journal some beautiful buttons some stitch markers and two nice skeins of yarn to make socks! Thank you Liz!!!

If you have never done a swap, try one it is really fun!

Gorgeous Natural Colors!
We had so much fun dyeing yesterday! My friends Helen and Shelby both came over and we cooked up some yarn. Dyeing with natural dyes is just like cooking. We had fun experimenting with things. We used Tea, Turmeric and Cochineal!

Dabble in Dyeing
I bought some books on dyeing with natural dyes and I am going to play today!!! I have dyed with acid dyes before and I often get a headache, so I am going to give the natural stuff a try! This is Cochineal soaked overnight! Cochineal is a bug! Yuck! It makes red though and from what I am told red is really difficult to get otherwise.

Don't forget to enter the Stop Light Challenge. Read yesterdays post for the info!!!

The Stop Light Challenge!!!
So I was driving around with my friend Shelby yesterday. I routinely knit at stop lights and she found this Baffling, Funny, Crazy, I am not really sure. We got to talking about time. I told her that even if I only got in a couple sts at a stop light it was helping build a sock. I got in 16 at that particular stop light! Then she threw out the Challenge! So here it is, I have to knit a sock, only at stop lights!!! The idea is to see how long it will take me to finish them. I will cast on 60 sts on 2.5 mm needles and knit 20 rows of 2x2 rib. I will then continue in stst for 70-80 rows, add heal flap and heal and knit another 70 rows for the bottom of foot then knit the toe! How long will it take!!! I don't know. I will start today May 6th!

Shelby gave me this beautiful skein Of Frog Creek Fibers Quaggy to knit for the challenge!
The Rules
I can cast on and knit the first row at home.
I can also kitchner the toe at home!
I can only knit while stopped at a light or when the car is running. I never leave the car running for more then 2 minutes while waiting. If the car is off the knitting is off!
I am not allowed to knit on them while my husband, or anyone else is driving.
Your Part!!! The Contest
I challenge you all to guess how many days it will take me to knit this sock. Just like The Price Is Right!!! The winner will be the person who is closest to the number of days without going over.
The winner will receive a set of Heartstone Ceramics Trish Buttons AND a skein of
Frog Creek Fiber Flocculent! Good luck!!!
This is the skein you will win. Shelby is making the buttons this week so I will post a picture soon.

Rain, Socks, Knitting
It is raining! Ha what's new. It rained most of yesterday. Therefor I got lots of knitting done. My first pink sock is almost done! I am knitting these on 0's (2 mm), so they are taking a little longer then normal.

The Crazy Zauberball was calling though and I had to at least cast one! The thing about the Crazy Zauberball is, it really is crazy. My sock is HUGE! I cast on my 64 sts on my 2.5 mm needles and started the rib, it is way to big. I think that I will have to go down to a 2.25 mm and cast on 60 sts. Then I will cross my fingers and hope that it is small enough. The yarn is not very thick so I am completely baffled by this! Such is life.
I know it doesn't look big in the picture! But trust me it is BIG. My husband could get this all the way up his calve!
