A Day In The Life Of A Budding Indy Dyer

So This is what it looks like around here lately!!!

7:45 am I get out of bed run downstairs to make COFFEE. Then I run to the dye studio\garage to check if the fiber is dry enough to braid. More then likely it is not quite dry enough and I spend 30 minutes fluffing it up and taking the driest ones into the house to dry in front of the heater. Next I spend 30 minutes on the internet. Checking messages, blogging, Ravelry, you know all that internet goodness. At this point I go and braid the most dry roving that I have!!!!! I need to braid it to take pictures! Then of course I curse a few times because I have forgotten to charge the rechargeable batteries!! At this point I place them in the charger for 10 minutes and sit back at my computer and get the post to etsy all set up minus my photos. When that is all done I gab the batteries and pray that they have charged long enough. I then head outside to take a few photos. Sometimes I get outside and find that the batteries aren't charged enough! Boy then I start cursing in the driveway! Mind you I have not showerd nor brushed my hair and am in the driveway cursing at a camera! My husband has woken up may times to tell me that my cloths are inside out and backward!!! Seriously getting dressed in the dark has its hazards. The other day he came downstairs and my paints were inside out and he just sat there laughing at me!!! How rude! I was wondering why I couldn't find the zipper! OK back on track. I will then upload the pictures onto the computer and fix them as needed. Then all I have to do is add them to the post I already got ready for etsy. Once they are posted I up load the pics to flickr and then post them to ravelry. Then I am off to braid more and repeat the process until they are all posted for the day. Seriously this can take hours and I forget to eat, good thing coffee is the first thing on my mind. So once I have them all posted I make a list of all the things that I want and need to dye for the day and get the fiber prepared and soaking. Oh did I mention that while I am doing all that posting business I help my kids with homework and feed them breakfast!!!
So usually sometime between 1 and 3 I start to dye again. Depending on how many I dye, I am usually done dyeing by 5 or 6 and then I run to the Post Office with the days orders. I packed them up throughout the day as my lovely customers bought them!!! When I get home from the Post Office I still have to rinse rinse rinse fiber! My husband is very helpful in this department sometimes he even does all the rinsing for me while I do the dishes and make dinner! So needless to say it is a long day by the time I am done and I don't have much energy left to knit or spin! Hence the lack of finished projects to show you all.

Have a happy day! And yes I am waiting for fiber to be dry enough to braid!! Trish
