Sock Mania

Yesterday I said I would tell you what all the socks are about. There are 117 days until Christmas and I have 44 people on my list. I make something for all 44 people, 80% of the gifts will be knit and out of those between 15 and 20 will be hand knit socks! So it takes me somewhere between 30 and 40 hours to knit a pair of socks. I figure that for all 44 people on the list it will take about 20 hour per person to complete a gift, that is an average because some things will only take an hour or so. So if I work on gifts every day from now until x-mas not including birthday or baby shower gifts, I will have to spend 6.8 hours a day everyday working on gifts!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just laugh hysterically when I think of this!!!! I have 4 pairs of socks finished but I have a feeling that you will see more soon.

Socks

So, I know that I have been silent in blog land but I have not been silent with my knitting. I finished two pairs of socks this week and started another. A couple of months ago I decided that I needed to have a basket full of socks to have on hand for gifts as needed. I had a pair on hand for my mother in law for mothers day! I also figure that all these finished socks will be great Christmas gifts. These two pairs make four pair in the basket to give as gifts, as the time comes. The grey pair are going to my brother in law for his birthday next week. I am hoping that having a basket full of socks at the ready will make gift giving easier. What do you all think? By the way I am making them in sizes women's 8-12 and men's 9-11. I think that should cover most of my family!

Socks on the needle!

Oh and another 9 patch!

Happy Knitting, and happy birthday to me! Trish

Lost In a Book!

Ok, I am so sorry that I have not posted in a week!!! I got lost in a book or should I say 4 books. I read Twilight and then I had to read the entire series. I really got sucked in. I didn't do much of anything. My house is a mess and I am lucky my children didn't waste away. I forgot to feed them until they were begging for food!!! Well I am done with that and back to my normal life witch includes crafting, children and running.

I got nice run/walk in this morning, that felt really nice. I my way home I picked blackberries with my friend Tara. They are almost gone! I can't believe that summer is almost over. Then I came home and made muffins for my children with the fresh blackberries. Boy that is a change from last week. Much more normal around here. They boys are at fencing camp today so I have had some crafting time.

I am making this!

It is a quilt for Sandrey's 8th Birthday. I have until September 14th to finish it! I think I can, I think I can.
Also my latest 9 patch! I really love these. I still don't know who this quilt will be for, but I am sure it will be someone special.

Also in crafting news, I am almost finished with the second Cashmara sock. I love this yarn so soft!
Well I think that is it.

Small things!

The cool weather has arrived and maybe I will be able to get some things done now. I really don't like to much of anything in heat above 90.

I made a couple more 9 patches this morning! I really love these little quilt blocks. So much fun to put random scraps of fabric together and see what you get. I can't wait until I have enough to put a quilt together!

Also this little green thing is for our booth at Sock Summit. Stop by and see what it is at the summit!

Kids Knitting

I taught a kids knitting class a couple of days ago. It was quite challenging but also very rewarding. I had five little girls and my own sweet little boy around a table. My boy could already knit so he just knit and watched. The girls were all great! They all figured it out and it was great to be a part of. They talked a lot, as girls do and that distracted them sometimes. It meant a lot of running from one to the other to fix little mistakes, but it was so worth it to see how they socialized and knit at the same time. That is what it is all about.
